Detlef Kulman

Detlef Kulman (* 1941 in Schweidnitz , Lower Silesia Province ) is a retired German Slavicist, librarian and ministerial official.

Life

After studying Slavic Philology , the History of Eastern and Southeastern Europe and German and Comparative Folklore and Balkanology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , Kulman received his doctorate in 1967 with a dissertation on The Image of the Bulgarian Middle Ages in New Bulgarian Narrative Literature . From 1968 he worked at the University Library in Munich. In 1974 he moved to the General Directorate of the Bavarian State Libraries as a consultant for academic librarianship. In 1978 he went to the Bavarian Ministry of Culture as an employee in the library, archive and literature department, which he headed from 1986 until his retirement in 2007.
