history

The first Diepholz gasworks was built in 1903 in connection with the construction of a coal-fired power plant and for this purpose the "Gaswerk Diepholz AG" was founded. This was dissolved in 1922 and taken over by the municipality as the "Städtisches Gaswerk Diepholz". With the beginning of the power supply in 1928, the gas works became the “Municipal Gas and Electricity Works Diepholz”.

In 1933/34 with the beginning of the water supply it traded as the “Municipal Gas, Water and Electricity Works Diepholz”. In 1962, town gas was switched to natural gas. In 1979 the “Städtische Gas- und Elektrizitätswerk Diepholz” and “EVB Energieversorgung Barnstorf GmbH” cooperated. The Diepholz company was converted into the "Stadtwerke Diepholz GmbH" in 1982.

"Stadtwerke Diepholz GmbH" and "EVB Energieversorgung Barnstorf" finally merged in 2001 to form Stadtwerke EVB Huntetal GmbH, based in Diepholz.
