Detlev Reusch

Detlev Reusch (* around 1645 ; † September 11, 1711 in Rendsburg ) was a royal Danish colonel and most recently head of the Ribestift National Infantry Regiment.

Life

As early as 1660 he was a commoner in the dragoons company of Captain Klüver in Holstein. In January 1677 he was captain of the 1st foot company. On April 15, 1678 he was in Delmenhorst and complained that he only had 8 men in his company. He became a captain in the Oldenburg infantry regiment of Colonel Lütkens and recommended that the newly recruited be brought to Delmenhorst, as it was harder for them to desert there . On September 10, 1689 he was promoted to major in the Oldenburg regiment. With the Battalion Oldenburg he got English pay and went to Ireland in autumn 1689 to fight in the Glorious Revolution . The battalion was disbanded in 1690 and Reusch came into theQueen's body regiment , which was also in Ireland. The corps came to Flanders in 1692 as part of the Palatinate War of Succession . On October 14, 1692, he became a lieutenant colonel in Flanders. He fought in the Battle of Steenkerke , was wounded and was taken prisoner.

On October 4, 1701 he became a colonel and chief of the Baltic National Infantry Regiment. On December 11, 1706 he took over the 4th Danish Infantry Regiment in Hungary as successor to the late Colonel von Eyndten . He led the regiment back to Denmark in 1709. On April 20, 1711 he became chief of the Riebstift National Infantry Regiment. He died on September 11, 1711 in Rendsburg, as the local commandant Colonel Schnitter reported on September 22, 1711.
