Life

Firle came as the daughter of the rent master Johann Matthias Ernst Firle and his wife Karoline Marie Dorothea geb. Kolbe in Berlin to the world. She became a teacher and in 1864 married the historian Wilhelm Bernhardi , son of the writer of the same name . Her brother-in-law became Wolfgang Bernhardi .

Luise Bernhardi wrote stories and fairy tales for children from the 1860s. She published her works partly anonymously, under the pseudonym Ludwig Fern, as Luise Firle or Luise Bernhardi. Around 1900, under the abbreviation L. Bernhardi , arrangements of James Fenimore Cooper's The Last of the Mohicans and Der Wildtöter as well as Joachim Heinrich Campes Robinson and other works appeared. However, it is unclear whether L. Bernhardi is the writer Luise Bernhardi.
