Detlev Sternberg-Lieben (born December 9, 1950 in Berlin-Steglitz as Detlev Lieben ) is a German law scholar and professor at the Technical University of Dresden .

Life

After graduating from high school at Rheingau-Gymnasium, Sternberg-Lieben studied law at the Free University of Berlin in the 1970 summer semester , where he also passed his first state examination in law in 1975. After the subsequent legal clerkship and the second state examination in 1978, he worked from 1979 as a research assistant in the law department of the Free University of Berlin. In 1984 he was awarded a doctorate there with a work on copyright law supervised by Ulrich Weber . iur. PhD. From 1985 he held various positions at the Berlin Ministry of Justice, including as head of the department for criminal law legislation. From 1991 he was a judge at the University of Tübingen . There he completed his habilitation in 1995 and received the Venia legendi for the subjects of criminal law and criminal procedural law.

This was followed by professorships at the universities of Bonn , Jena , the Humboldt University in Berlin and the University of Dresden. Since the winter semester 1997/98 he has held the chair for criminal law and criminal procedure law at the law faculty of the Technical University of Dresden.

Sternberg-Lieben's research focuses primarily on criminal law dogmatics, medical criminal law and the constitutional references to criminal law and criminal procedure law. In addition, he gained notoriety in professional circles through his extensive comments in the specialist commentary on the StGB Schönke / Schröder and in the specialist commentary on the UrhG Möhring / Nicolini .
