The Detour Nunatak is a large, 6 km long and 3 km wide nunatak in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises between the Frazier Glacier and the upper section of the Mackay Glacier .
The New Zealand crew of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955-1958) named it so, because a detour ( English detour ) south of this Nunatak was necessary when climbing over the Mackay Glacier .
