German-Finnish Society
The German-Finnish Society was founded in Munich in 1952 and has around 9,000 members. The association, based in Munich, is now one of the largest German-foreign friendship societies in Germany. Federal chairman is Mari Koskela, Deputy Federal Chairman and Treasurer Hubert Kleine, Deputy Federal Chairman Justus Burow.
With its 15 regional associations and 72 district associations, the German-Finnish Society e. V. is present almost everywhere in Germany.
The focus is on informing members about the cultural, political, economic and tourist development of Finland. In addition, the DFG eV regards itself as a German contact point for Finnish organizations. The promotion of cultural relations, support of the work in the German-Finnish partner cities as well as activities for the creation of new town twinning , the mediation of school partnerships and the implementation of school and youth exchanges are just as much part of the tasks as current information about Finland as a travel destination. Members receive discounts at partner companies of the DGF. Especially for its Finnish members, the DFG eV actively participates in the Finnish foreign parliament in Helsinki .
The association supports the publication of books by Finnish writers or on Finnish topics. The magazine Deutsch-Finnische Rundschau has been providing information every 3 months since 1968 about current events in Finland and reports on German-Finnish affairs in Germany. The regional associations also have their own magazines that are sent out regularly. Members receive discounts from partner organizations of the DFG.
The association is a non-profit association . The federal office is located in 04103 Leipzig, Scherlstrasse 11-13.
