German-Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry
The German-Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (short AHK Korea, English Korean-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry , short KGCCI, kor. 한독 상공 회의소 Handok Sanggonghoeuiso ) in Seoul is part of the network of German chambers of commerce abroad . On behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany, she represents the German economy with the aim of promoting foreign trade in trade between South Korea and Germany. It has existed in its current form since 1981 and, alongside the German Embassy and Germany Trade and Invest (GTAI), is the central pillar of German foreign trade promotion in Korea. The German-Korean Chamber of Commerce Abroad works closely with the German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (IHK) and the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) .
organization
The chamber has the legal status of a legal person. Ingrid Drechsel has been the German chairman of the AHK Korea since 2017, the office of Korean chairman is held by Jong Kap Kim. The highest organ of the chamber is the general assembly. The board of directors elected by it determines the main focus of the AHK's work and prepares the resolutions for the general assembly. Barbara Zollmann has been managing director of the AHK Korea since 2013.
tasks
The tasks of the AHK Korea are divided into three areas: It is a service provider, member organization and actor in German foreign trade promotion, which operates as a link between the German and Korean economies. It therefore supports companies in their search for new sales markets and partners in both countries and is therefore a chamber of commerce and management consultancy as well as a member organization and a competent service provider. Other important tasks are to introduce and expand basic and advanced training based on the German model.
Foreign trade promotion
The AHK Korea is the central agency for German foreign trade promotion in South Korea and is partially funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). It supports bilateral economic relations through information and public relations work, the establishment and maintenance of networks, and support and representation of German economic institutions. The support of companies is the focus of their work, but also location promotion for Germany and a number of other tasks, such as the identification of relevant developments and future topics are part of it.
DEinternational
DEinternational is the service subsidiary of the AHK Korea and the service brand of all German chambers of commerce abroad. Under this commercial services are offered under the umbrella of the chambers of commerce abroad. A team of trilingual consultants (German, Korean, English) organizes business delegations and market exploration trips, represents German trade fair companies and offers support for bilateral market entry, professional training, office-in-office and other services.
Membership organization
The AHK Korea is traditionally also a member organization. Almost 500 members create a network on the basis of voluntary membership to promote the exchange of information and experience and the search for partners. In addition, the AHK Korea offers its members a wide range of information events, working groups and platforms for exchange and networking. Organizations and individuals of any nationality can become members.
Trade fair representations
The AHK Korea represents large exhibition centers in Germany such as B. Messe Stuttgart , Messe Berlin , IAA Frankfurt , Toy Fair Nuremberg and Intersolar . Exhibitors, visitors, the media as well as exporters and importers are advised on all questions relating to a trade fair presence.
Publications
The chamber regularly publishes publications on current economic issues. The two-month magazine KORUM with current market information and member news is supplemented by various publications, such as the annual CSR Report of German Companies in Korea and the business leader Korea at a glance . A chamber newsletter is also sent to the members every week, which provides information on all current and important economic topics and reports of the week.
Events
The AHK Korea organizes around 50 events annually for its members and customers. These include, for example, company and delegation trips, seminars and platform events, as well as a traditional goose and asparagus meal. The events offer the opportunity to get to know other member companies and company representatives and to establish and maintain contacts.
