German General Newspaper (1843–1879)
The Deutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (DAZ) was a daily newspaper published from April 1, 1843 to December 31, 1879 . The paper was published in Leipzig by Brockhaus-Verlag and appeared over the decades with innumerable supplements under the generic term “extra sheet”. The forerunner of the daily publication was the Leipziger Allgemeine Zeitung , which appeared from October 1, 1837 to March 30, 1843 .
A same name, later daily newspaper, with a morning and evening edition each in Berlin appeared, was only a few days after the beginning of the Weimar Republic for the first time on 12 November 1918, the North German book printing and publishing company published German Allgemeine Zeitung .
