German congregation abroad

As expatriate community who call churches German-speaking congregations abroad.

The Roman Catholic German Bishops' Conference sees the following main tasks for the congregations abroad:

• Parishes abroad as places of contemplation.
• Parishes abroad should be places of dialogue.
• Parishes abroad should be places of active commitment.

The former foreign bishop of the Evangelical Church , Martin Schindehütte , stated in an interview a year after taking office that the foreign congregations can be a role model for church congregations in Germany with regard to ecumenical cooperation and their voluntary commitment.
