In 1974 the Idar-Oberstein Diamond and Gemstone Exchange (DEIO) was opened in Idar-Oberstein , Rhineland-Palatinate , as the world's first combined exchange for both diamonds and colored gemstones .

In 1975 she was admitted to the World Association of Diamond Bourses , to which 29 bourses now belong. The Intergem trade fair, which has been held annually on the exhibition grounds in the Nahetal business park since the mid-1980s and has over 160 exhibitors, consolidates its position as a precious stone trading center in international competition.

The president of the stock exchange is Jochen Müller, his representatives (vice presidents) are Manfred Giloy, Christian Klein and Bernd Willi Ripp.
