Helene Jacobs
Helene Jacobs (born February 25, 1906 in Schneidemühl , † August 13, 1993 in Berlin ) was a resistance fighter against National Socialism .
Life
Jacobs was secretary of a Jewish patent attorney in the Third Reich and a member of the Confessing Church since 1934 . She joined a group led by the lawyer Franz Herbert Kaufmann , which had been helping since 1940 that persecuted Jews could go into hiding and leave the country. Jacobs hid from Christian-social motivation some people in their homes until they denounced in 1943 and then to the penitentiary was sentenced. In the Federal Republic of Germany Jacobs worked as a civil servant in the compensation office in West Berlin and was transferred there in 1963 because she had done too much for the applicants.
Jacobs had been a member of the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation in Berlin since it was founded in 1949 . She was honored as Righteous Among the Nations by the Yad Vashem Memorial . She died in 1993 and was buried in the Dahlem forest cemetery. Her grave has been dedicated to the city of Berlin as an honorary grave since 2004 .
