German Society for Manual Medicine

The German Society for Manual Medicine e. V. (DGMM) is a medical scientific society based in Hamm . She is a member of the working group of scientific medical societies .

Rigobert Klett is the president of the DGMM .

The goals are the scientific organization and coordination of the further education and training of doctors in the field of manual medicine (MM) including osteopathy. The DGMM supports the promotion and collection of scientific work in the field of MM. It represents MM within the German and international medical sciences and towards authorities as well as professional medical organizations and the organization of and participation in scientific conferences in the field of MM. Since 1962, the DGMM has published the journal Manual Medicine, which is published by Springer-Verlag, with 4 issues a year. The journal is also the European journal "European Journal of MM".

The DGMM is working on the implementation of European, in the medium term also global standards for manual examination and manual therapy and creates scientific theoretical bases for this and promotes clinical studies.

The association has personal and corporate members ( legal entities ), as well as honorary members and corresponding members. Corporate members are the German Society for Musculoskeletal Medicine (DGMSM), the Dr. Karl Sell Medical Seminar in Neutrauchburg (MWE) and the Medical Association for Manual Medicine - Medical Seminar Berlin (ÄMM). The association with the European Society of Manual is international Medicine (ESSOMM) and the Fédération Internationale de Medicine Manuelle connected.

The association maintains a research advice center (FBS) MANUAL MEDICINE located at the Institute for Physiotherapy at the Jena University Hospital. The aim of this facility is to intensify and support interest in and commitment to research in this area. The FBS would like to motivate established and clinically active manual medicine practitioners as well as physiotherapists engaged in manual medicine to plan and carry out research work on manual medicine issues with its help.

Through its members, the association promotes the advanced training of doctors in manual medicine and of physiotherapists in manual therapy . With the content and organization of its advanced and advanced training courses, it fulfills the standard specified by the German Medical Association and statutory health insurance companies.
