The German Society for Regenerative Medicine e. V. (GRM) is a registered association that aims to provide information about the latest developments in the field of regenerative medicine and stem cell research .

organization

The GRM has set itself the goal of informing the public about regenerative medicine and stem cell research, promoting the dialogue between various medical specialist groups and representatives from the media, philosophy and theology and thus promoting public discourse, and documenting medical research results and studies. Science journalist and author Ulrike Schwemmer has headed the GRM since it was founded. The company's three-person management board is supported by an office in Frankfurt a. M. as well as a 21-member scientific advisory board to which scientists from various institutes belong.

Cooperations

The association cooperates with the Center for Regenerative Biology and Regenerative Medicine, an institution of the University Clinic Tübingen , whose director Konrad Kohler is both a board member of the GRM and a member of its scientific advisory board. There is also a cooperation with the network for basic and application-oriented stem cell research in Germany. In 2007, the GRM started a cooperation with the High-Tech Gründerfonds, which was initiated by the BMWi as part of a public-private partnership and supported by it together with KfW and various companies. The High-Tech Gründerfonds helps young entrepreneurs by financing their ideas and concepts. When selecting the innovations to be supported, the GRM acted as a network partner and its scientific advisory board assessed submitted projects, which represented the first selection stage in the selection process of the High-Tech Gründerfonds.

other activities

At annual conferences until 2013, the GRM provided information on developments and innovations in the field of regenerative medicine and also promoted dialogue with politicians. At the 2013 conference, Parliamentary State Secretary Ulrike Flach spoke about innovations and costs in regenerative medicine. In addition to these so-called autumn forums, the association organizes workshops as well as scientific and political discussion events, such as the round table event "Stem Cell Research in Germany - Shortly Before the Decision" on the occasion of the amendment to the Stem Cell Act in 2008, in which Michael Kretschmer and René Röspel participated. In addition, the GRM founded its own magazine in 2006, participates in congresses and addresses those affected and their families.
