German Society for Robotics

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Society for Robotics (DGR) has been the umbrella organization of the scientific societies and industrial associations active in the field of robotics in Germany since 2000 .

Goal setting

The aim of the DGR is to promote research, development, training and application in the entire field of robotics:

  • The DGR forms the basis for the mutual exchange of experiences and the joint treatment of scientific and technical questions. For this purpose, the DGR organizes its own conferences or participates in events of other organizations.
  • It ensures that the results of the work on the topic of robotics are disseminated in the interest of the public and that all parties involved are informed as comprehensively as possible through publications in relevant specialist journals and through its own reports.
  • In order to promote technical progress in the field of robotics, she represents the common interests of national and international organizations.

organization

The German Society for Robotics brings together industrial and scientific associations in Germany . Its international orientation results from member organizations, which in turn are part of large international associations. The governing body and representative of the DGR in external relations is the board of directors elected for a three-year term by the owners' meeting.

The core of the DGR is the sponsoring assembly, which is composed of the board and representatives of the sponsoring companies. As the constituent body of the DGR, it is responsible for all pioneering decisions as well as for the election of the board, the proper implementation of all activities and the inclusion of further sponsoring companies.

The DGR is supported by non-profit scientific societies and other associations active in the field of robotics. In accordance with its claim as an umbrella organization for robotics in Germany, the DGR is open to other societies, clubs and associations that are active in the field of robotics.

Board of Directors and Representatives

The chairman decides in all matters of the DGR, insofar as they do not fall within the competence of the sponsors' meeting or the managing director. The term of office of the chairman and his deputy is three years. Between 2009 and 2015 Alexander Verl was chairman of the DGR. Tamim Asfour from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) has held the chairmanship since 2015.

Members

The DGR is formed by the following non-profit scientific societies and other associations active in the field of robotics - the members of the DGR:

DGR days

The aim of the DGR days is to create a visible, interdisciplinary German robotics community made up of scientists and research institutions in robotics, artificial intelligence and cognitive science, as well as representatives from industry. The focus is on bringing scientists, especially young scientists (doctoral students and postdocs), from these areas closer together and motivating them to engage in dialogue and cooperation.

The first event in the series took place on October 12 and 13, 2011 in Karlsruhe, in the following years on September 6 and 7, 2012 in Berlin and on October 7 and 8, 2013 in Munich.
