German Society for Stem Cell Research
The German Society for Stem Cell Research (GSZ) sees itself as representing the interests of researchers in the field of adult and embryonic stem cells in German-speaking countries.
founding
The association was founded in 2003 on the initiative of Jürgen Hescheler and in January 2003 received the second approval under the Stem Cell Act "on the subject of comparative studies of human and murine embryonic stem cells".
The company operates as a non-profit association , is financially and politically independent and has been entered in the register of associations of the Cologne District Court under the reference VR 14639 since November 4, 2004. Members of the society are well-known researchers and teachers at German universities and non-university institutions.
Purpose of society
The society represents the interests of its members in scientific, medical and ethical questions and conducts public relations for this research area. It promotes research into stem cells, supports the training of the next generation, participates in the exchange of scientists on a national and international level, supports publications and organizes conferences and seminars. The association wants to bundle the previously loose network of scientists nationwide in a platform for stem cell research and to be a competent and independent advisor for all questions of stem cell research.
