The German Society for Wound Healing and Wound Treatment eV (DGfW) is an interdisciplinary scientific specialist society in the field of wound healing and wound treatment in Germany . The purpose is to promote research and the interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge in the field. A particular concern here is the improvement of the interprofessional cooperation between nurses, doctors and non-medical therapists in the specialist field. Furthermore, the DGfW advocates improved interlinking of outpatient and inpatient therapy. The DGfW was founded in Wiesbaden in 1994 . The company has been based in Giessen since 2002 .

organization

The board of the DGfW consists of the president, the vice-presidents medicine and nursing, the treasurer, the representative for research and communication, the board member for non-medical health professions and the board member for resident doctors.

Memberships

The DGfW is a member of the Working Group of Scientific Medical Societies (AWMF). At the international level, it is a member of the European Wound Management Association (EWMA).

Publications and activities

The organ of publication is the journal Zeitschrift für Wundheilung . The journal is also the official publication organ of the Austrian Wound Association (AWA) and the Swiss Association for Wound care (SafW). The DGfW conducts seminars, events for training, further education and training and conferences. An annual national congress has been held since 1997 and the organization of regional seminars has been supported. It participates in quality assurance measures and, in collaboration with other specialist societies, develops standards and guidelines for wound healing and wound treatment. The networking of medical and nursing areas as well as between neighboring subjects and national and international specialist societies, professional associations and organizations is also part of their tasks. Another focus is the promotion of research in the field and the transfer of newly acquired knowledge into practice. The DGfW represents the specialist field externally to organizations, authorities and other institutions.

Prices

As part of its annual conference, the DGfW awards several scientific prizes, including the Viktor von Bruns Prize for outstanding work in the field of basic research on wound healing and wound treatment and the Agathe Streicher Prize for outstanding work in the field of nursing science and nursing practice in the field .
