German Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association

The German Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association ( DKV ) is the German technical and scientific association for the field of refrigeration , air conditioning and heat pump technology . It was founded in Berlin in 1909 , is a non-profit organization and, according to its own information, has around 1,530 members in Germany and abroad. The association represents the technical and scientific forum for the entire industry.

District and sub-district associations as well as student groups organize lectures on current topics throughout Germany. The 120 events in Germany to date have been attended by 2,500 guests and members.

The German refrigeration and air conditioning conference (also DKV conference ) takes place annually, at which the state of the art, the latest developments and research results are presented and political framework conditions are explained and discussed. Around 600 people take part in the conference with around 100 lectures. The next DKV conference is planned for November 2020 in Magdeburg .

The association is a member and represents Germany in the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR) based in Paris. He is also a member of the German Association of Technical and Scientific Associations (DVT) and an associated member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). The DKV is involved in the national implementation of the Montreal and Kyoto Protocols .

history

The association was founded in 1909 as the "German Cold Association" in Berlin. Carl von Linde was the founding chairman . In 1939 the German refrigeration association was transformed into the “Arbeitsgemeinschaft Kältetechnik” of the Association of German Engineers (VDI). At the suggestion of Rudolf Plank , the association was re-established in 1947 as the "German Refrigeration Association". The name was changed to the current name of the "Deutscher Kälte- und Klimatechnischer Verein" in 1973.
