Work integration

As labor integration refers to the integration of people with intellectual or multiple disability or impairment in the workplace.

Work integration is an alternative to employment in a so-called workshop for people with disabilities (“WfBM”, Germany). People with disabilities / impairments decide for themselves in which professional field they want to work and which work seems conceivable or suitable for them.

In a ruling by the Federal Social Court of November 2011, it was made clear that so-called services for “participation in working life”, which were previously only provided in WfBM, could not be omitted from the personal budget simply because an institution was not recognized as a workshop. The Federal Government Commissioner for the Issues of Disabled People Hubert Hüppe then requested in a statement,

“The cost bearers are now called upon to follow the clarification of the Federal Social Court and to grant workshop services even without connection to workshops for disabled people. As part of the personal budget, the services should follow people and not the other way around. "

To find out what the right job is for the person concerned or where his strengths and abilities lie, support groups are very suitable. (Example IfS Spagat in Vorarlberg, Austria)

Work integration is only a meaningful option when working out a daily or weekly structure with the consent of the persons concerned.
