German media association

The German Media Association e. V. is a professional association for journalists and media professionals . Until 2010 it was called Junge Medien Deutschland . According to its own information, around 5000 members are organized in the association based in Berlin and its two regional associations in Hamburg and Munich. Since 2010 the association has "operated" as the Deutscher Medienverband e. V. (DMV).

Services

The association offers specialist information and extra-occupational advice, seminars and workshops, contacts and events. The association issues a press card to its members , which can be requested on its own website, among other things. In addition, the association publishes articles on its blog about the maintenance and promotion of quality in journalism, as well as the various professions in journalism.

aims

The association sees itself as a lobbyist for the maintenance and promotion of quality in journalism. According to its guiding principles, the German Media Association is committed to an open society. The association sees it as the task of quality journalism to defend it, as freedom without freedom of the press is inconceivable in the association's view.

Bodies

The chairman is Manfred Orle, who is also a member of the "Association of Young Journalists". The deputy chairman, lawyer Thomas G. Müller, is also deputy chairman of the supervisory board of the German Association of Trade Journalists. Carl Christian Müller from Berlin acts as the association's legal advisor. The president of the association court is Alexander Dietrich, judge at the Munich district court and local chairman of the CSU Moosach.
