The German swimming pass is a three-stage qualification in swimming . The exams for the swimming badges can be taken by children, adolescents and adults regardless of age.
The performance of the three-stage German swimming badge, which has been issued since January 1, 2020, is described in an amendment to the German Swimming Examination Regulations. Some of them have been reformulated and made more specific and, above all, tightened for the bronze badge. The differentiation of the times to be achieved according to the age of the test object was given up. The design of the badges was taken over from the German Youth Swimming Pass.
Jump upside down from the edge of the pool and swim for 15 minutes. During this time, at least 200 meters must be covered, 150 meters of which in the prone or supine position in one recognizable swimming type and 50 meters in the other body position (change of body position while swimming on the lane without holding on).
Once about 2 meters deep diving from the water surface by bringing up a small object (z. B. smaller immersion ring)
Knowledge of bathing rules and self-rescue behavior (e.g. behavior when exhausted, relieving cramps)
Jump upside down from the edge of the pool and swim for 20 minutes. During this time, at least 400 meters must be covered, of which 300 meters in the prone or supine position, in one recognizable swimming type and 100 meters in the other body position (change of body position while swimming on the lane without holding on).
Two times, about 2 meters deep diving from the water surface, each with a small object (e.g. small diving rings)
10 meter distance diving with pushing off from the edge of the pool in the water
A jump from 3 meters or 2 different jumps from 1 meter

Jump upside down from the edge of the pool and swim for 30 minutes. During this time, at least 800 meters must be covered, of which 650 meters in the prone or supine position in one recognizable swimming type and 150 meters in the other body position (change of body position while swimming on the lane without holding on).
Start jump and 50 meter breaststroke in a maximum of 1:15 minutes
50 meter backstroke swim with straddle swing without arm activity or back crawl swim
10 meters distance diving from the swimming position (without pushing off from the pool edge)
Deep diving from the surface of the water by bringing up three small objects (e.g. small diving rings) from a water depth of around two meters within 3 minutes with a maximum of 3 attempts at diving
a jump from 3 meters or 2 different jumps from 1 meter
50 meters of transport swimming: pushing or pulling
German swimming pass until 2019
The badges of the German swim pass, which was issued until 2019, were only given to adults. For children and young people under 18 years old also three-existed German Youth Swimming Fun with similar requirements. For the swimming conditions for the German swim pass, the maximum times per decade of life have been increased, for the first time with the age of 30:
by one minute in the 200-meter swim for the German swimming badge bronze
by one minute in the 400-meter swim for the German silver swimming badge
by 2 minutes in the 1000 meter swim for the German Gold Swimming Badge
by 10 seconds in the 100-meter swim for the German Swimming Badge Gold

Swim 1000 meters in a maximum of 24 minutes for men and 29 minutes for women (see age differentiation)
Swim 100 meters in a maximum of 1:50 minutes for men and 2:00 minutes for women (see age differentiation)
100 meters backstroke, of which 50 meters with straddle swing (sternum swing movement) without arm activity
Deep diving from the water surface (three diving rings from approx. 2 meters deep water in 3 minutes with a maximum of 3 diving attempts)
15 meters distance diving
Jump from a height of 3 meters or 2 jumps from a height of 1 meter (one of which is head and foot)
50 meter transport swimming (pushing or pulling)
Knowledge of the bathing rules
Help with swimming, boat and ice accidents (self and simple rescue)
