The German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (DWV) is the German umbrella organization for the hydrogen and fuel cell industry . As the mouthpiece for hydrogen as a future energy carrier , the DWV represents over 100 industrial and research institutions with over a million employees and over 200 private members.

The association works with business and research representatives and provides publicity and lobbying work for hydrogen as an energy source in the sense of a sustainable hydrogen economy . The association is financed through donations and membership fees.

The DWV is convinced that hydrogen is a key energy carrier for a secure and economical energy transition. The aim of the DWV is therefore to actively develop and represent proposals for suitable regulatory framework conditions for the rapid market introduction and development of hydrogen. When working out its proposals, the DWV feels obliged to make a decisive contribution to a low-emission and defossilized energy system. The DWV is a lobby organization .

The association has existed since 1996 and has its office in Berlin.

The association is a member of Hydrogen Europe . DWV, represented by Werner Diwald, has been a member of the board of Hydrogen Europe since 2016.

Werner Diwald has been chairman of the DWV since 2014 and took over the chairmanship from Johannes Töpler, who has since taken over the role of deputy chairman. The entire board currently consists of 10 people.
