German Hearing Aid Institute

The German Hearing Aid Institute GmbH (DHI) is a corporation under public law , the sole shareholder of which is the German Federal Guild of Hearing Aid Acousticians , to which around 2500 member companies belong. The DHI has been active in its field of work since 2000.

Fields of work

The DHI deals with the following fields of work:

  • Type tests on hearing aids
  • Expert opinion on the properties of hearing aids
  • Development of test methods
  • Evaluation and publication of hearing aid test results
  • Scientific, teaching and research activities on hearing aids
  • Provision of relevant services
  • Procurement and preparation of reports and studies

The type tests on hearing aids that were previously carried out by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt in accordance with the Medical Devices Act until 1999 have now been transferred to the DHI. The DHI also keeps a list of the type tests according to consecutive numbers with the names of the hearing aids tested.

Location

The DHI is located in Lübeck , Bessemerstraße 3, where the Academy for Hearing Aid Acoustics , which belongs to the same organization, is located.
