German Harmonica Museum

The German Harmonica Museum in Trossingen ( Baden-Wuerttemberg ) shows harmonicas , accordions , harmoniums, Sheng , Jew's harps and other reed instruments and knowledgeable about the history of the harmonica industry; special attention is paid to the Hohner companywhich has its roots in the small Swabian town. The collection consists of around 25,000 different harmonicas, many hand-drawn instruments and an extensive collection of industry-historical documents. Numerous harmonica packaging reflects the zeitgeist of earlier years. The museum was opened in the city center in 1991 with the support of the state of Baden-Württemberg. In 2016 the move took place within Trossingen to Building V of the old Hohner company premises (used until 1995).

The museum's special attractions include the largest playable button accordion in the world, harmonica rarities, hand-drawn instruments from the 19th century to the present day, the Hohner Magic-Organa (music automaton with accordion and drums from 1931) as well as harmonica from both world wars. The museum also offers temporary and traveling exhibitions.
