Dezső Buzogány

Dezső Buzogány (* 1957 in Szederjes, Mieresch - Transylvania ) is Romanian professor of church history at the Protestant Theological Institute in Cluj-Napoca .

Life

After graduating from the Schäßburg high school , he devoted himself to theological studies at the Protestant Theological Institute in Cluj in 1981 . After ten years of service as pastor of the parishes Nyárádselye and Ádámos, he taught Protestant church history and Latin there from autumn 1990 . Dezső Buzogány obtained his doctorate at the Budapest Faculty of Theology. He received his doctorate on the subject of Melanchthon's doctrine of the Lord's Supper based on his letters . In the academic years 1992 to 1993 he traveled to the USA as part of a research project . Between 1992 and 2000 he was chairman of the Christian youth association IKE Transylvania. From 2001 Buzogány worked parallel to his teaching activity in Cluj as a lecturer at the Pedagogical Institute of the Babes Bolyai University in Cluj . From 2003 he was a professor and from 2004 a member of several committees in the Romanian Ministry of Education. In 2005 he was visiting professor in Seoul, in summer 2006 he was invited to Oxford as a member of the doctoral committee. Buzogány has lectured at various universities in the USA, South Korea, the Netherlands, Hungary, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland.

In addition, Buzogány is the founder of the newly established Transylvanian Museum Association, member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences , chairman of the Academic Committee for Theology and Church History Cluj, honorary member of the National Geographic Society , editor and founder of the newspaper Ifju Erdely , from 1998 editor of the Christian Observer (Washington), from 2000 editor of the Transylvanian newspaper Református Szemle and member of the editorial board of several Hungarian magazines and newspapers. Within ten years he initiated three series of publications: The Transylvanian Church History Hefte-EREF and the Transylvania Church History Data, EREA, Fontes Rerum Ecclesiasticum in Transylvania-FoRET.

More than 50 studies and articles have appeared in national and international journals. Buzogány was also the head of several national and international research projects and founder of the Church History Research Institute Pokoly Jozsef .
