The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ( Bengali : ঢাকা ঢাকা স্টক) in Dhaka , is one of two stock exchanges in Bangladesh (the other is the Chittagong Stock Exchange ). In 2015, the amounted market capitalization of listed companies at the Dhaka Stock Exchange to over 40 billion US dollars . The DSE is registered as a public limited company .

history

First registered as the East Pakistan Stock Exchange Association on April 28, 1954, formal trading began in 1956. On June 23, 1962 the name was changed to East Pakistan Stock Exchange and on May 13, 1964 again to Dacca (Dhaka) Stock Exchange. After the Bangladesh War in 1971, trading was suspended for five years. In 1976 the trade was resumed in the now independent Bangladesh and on September 16, 1986 today's DSE was started. The formula for calculating the DSE-All-Aktienindex was changed on November 1, 1993 in accordance with IFC . Automated trading was initiated on August 10, 1998 and started on January 1, 2001. On January 24, 2004 a central securities account system was introduced.

On November 16, 2009, the reference index of the stock exchange exceeded 4000 points for the first time and set a new high of 4148 points. In 2010 the index exceeded 8500 points and finally collapsed in the first quarter of 2011. Millions of investors lost their money and took to the streets, blaming speculators and regulators for the bubble. This episode became known as the 2011 Market Scam. Millions of investors went bankrupt as a result of the crash .
