Dho 280

The lunar meteorite Dho 280 or Dhofar 280 was found on April 14, 2001 in the Dhofar region in the southwest of the Sultanate of Oman . A total of 251.2 g was recovered. It may be paired with the Dho 081 meteorite, i.e. H. both are fragments of the same meteorite.

The three previously unknown iron-silicon mineral phases FeSi , FeSi 2 and Fe 2 Si were found in this meteorite , which confirmed predictions made by Bruce Hapke in 1973 about the formation of iron compounds through space erosion . The phase Fe 2 Si was here as to Prof. Hapke hapkeite referred.
