Diário de Notícias (DN) ['djarju də nu'tisjɐʃ] ( Portuguese daily news ) is a Portuguese daily newspaper that was founded by Tomás Quintino Antunes and Eduardo Coelho on December 29, 1864. Today the newspaper is next to the Público and the Correio da Manhã the third most important daily newspaper in Portugal. Originally it was conservative, but today it is left - liberal . Its headquarters are on Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon .

The newspaper's circulation has been falling steadily for many years. It used to be the flagship of Portuguese political newspapers, but has since been replaced by the Público and the weekly Expresso . In 2009, the daily circulation of the DN fluctuated between 57,000 and 61,000 copies on average. Since then, the circulation has fallen sharply and was just under 34,000 copies in the first half of 2011. At the end of 2014, the circulation fell further to 28,600 per day. The newspaper belongs to the media company Global Media Group .

Various Portuguese personalities have collaborated since the Diário de Notícias was founded . Among them, for example, Eça de Queiroz , who in the 1870s published the "London Letters" in the newspaper during his consulate, which he later published under the name Cartas de Inglaterra , Letters from England. The father of the well-known Portuguese poet and author Fernando Pessoa , Joaquim de Seabra Pessoa, worked as a music critic for the newspaper. Also José Saramago , Portuguese Nobel literature laureate, was already in the editorial of Diário de Notícias represented.
