Diabetes Journal

The Diabetes Journal is a German subscription journal on the subject of diabetes mellitus . It is published by Kirchheim-Verlag, Mainz . The monthly magazine was founded in 1951 under the title “Der Diabetiker”, together with the self-help organization Deutscher Diabetiker Bund (DDB). The paper has been called Diabetes Journal since the 1970s.

In addition to medical articles, the booklets also contain field reports, letters to the editor and patient questions. Psychology is covered as well as nutrition and health policy. There are also tips to make everyday life with diabetes easier, as well as recipes and telephone numbers. In every issue, the magazine reports on the DDB federal association and the work of the 16 regional associations. In addition, news from the overall diabetes organization diabetesDE - German Diabetes Aid is published.

The journal is available at kiosks at German airports and train stations. The authors of the medical topics include experts from the field of diabetology such as Hellmut Mehnert , Thomas Haak, Thomas Danne and Bernd Kulzer. In 2009 the diabetestour patient event emerged from the Diabetes Journal , and since 2011 it has also organized the German Diabetic Day annually , together with the German Diabetics Association.
