Diakoniewerk Martha Maria

The Diakoniewerk Martha-Maria is an independent Diakoniewerk in the Evangelical Methodist Church . It owns and operates four hospitals , seven retirement homes and two recreational facilities. Around 4,300 employees work at the Diakoniewerk in the federal states of Saxony-Anhalt , Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg .

History and organization

On February 4, 1889, the deaconesses Luise Schneider and Elise Heidner founded a sisterhood as an association for general nursing with the Evangelical Methodist pastor Jakob Ekert. They called him "Martha-Maria". The name Martha-Maria comes from the Bible. Martha and Maria were two sisters who lived in Palestine at the same time as Jesus. One day Jesus visited her. While Martha took care of the food and drink, Mary sat at Jesus' feet and listened to him. Martha was very angry about this and asked Jesus to make sure that Mary helped in the kitchen - just as it should be for women. However, Jesus stated that Mary did just the right thing. Martha-Maria is an independent Diakoniewerk in the Evangelical Methodist Church, which belongs to the Working Group of Christian Churches. Martha-Maria is a member of the Diakonisches Werk.

Current

In October 2013 the foundation stone was laid for a facility for assisted living on the Nagold shore, this facility is located in the immediate vicinity of the Martha-Maria senior center and the Klebs green spaces. The order for 34 places for assisted living came from Diakoniewerk Martha-Maria.

In November 2017, construction began on the Hohenfreudenstadt Clinic, a rehabilitation clinic in the immediate vicinity of the Hotel Teuchelwald, which will also be renovated during the construction period. The new building should be completed by the beginning of October 2018. The hotel and the rehabilitation clinic belong to the Martha-Maria Gesundheitspark Hohenfreudenstadt gGmbH of the Diakoniewerk Martha-Maria.
