It was presented for the first time at the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona , together with the cooperation partner, Deutsche Telekom . The developer of dial is the American start-up iam +, which was founded by will.i.am , the singer of the Black Eyed Peas , and is headed by the entrepreneur Chandra Rathakrishnan .
Technical specifications
The specialty of the dial is the possibility to use the device without a connection to a smartphone . Internet and telephony functions are made possible by a built-in nano SIM slot. Coupling with a smartphone is not possible.
The bracelet can be controlled via a voice function as well as via a 1.6-inch touchscreen . iam + does not rely on Android Wear or Tizen for dial , but on a proprietary operating system - in this case AneedA . The operating system is also the name giver for the integrated language system. The company developed the voice control in cooperation with the voice software manufacturer Nuance and describes it as the first voice operating system in the world.
The dial is the streaming networked Service of iam +, can be which claims to have 20 million songs streamed free. These can also be saved on the watch's internal memory.

Applications on the dial were presented as skills by will.i.am. The wearable comes on the market with pre-installed skills, but AneedA is "an open platform for developers to develop more skills for them".
criticism
Even though the dial is offered in two different sizes, there are criticisms of the dimensions of the smartwatch: The bracelet would not fit on some wrists. The dial can only be bought and operated with a SIM card from the respective cooperation partner. This fact meets with criticism.
"What bothers me much more is the fact that I should be forced to buy another SIM card and, accordingly, another contract."
The design of the dial is also rated differently by portals on the Internet. John McCann writes:

Availability
Dial has been sold in Great Britain via the British provider three since May 13, 2016 . Telekom has announced that it will launch the smartwatch in Germany this year as well. However, she did not give an exact release date.
