The Dial Range is a small mountain range in the north of the Australian state of Tasmania and part of the Great Dividing Range . It is located near the north coast, south of the small town of Penguin and extends about 14 km in north-south direction and 4–5 km in east-west direction. In the east and south they are bounded by the River Leven and in the south by the Gunns Plains .

Land use

Around 52 km² of this area belong to the state of Tasmania. Of this, 43.54 km² are state and protective forest managed by Forestry Tasmania . Two smaller areas, Montgomery State Reserve and Ferndene State Reserve , are under the administration of the Tasmania Parks & Wildlife Service . The remaining 5.07 km² are proposed for use as a Nature Recreation Area .
