The River Leven is a river in the northwest of the Australian state of Tasmania .

geography

River course

The river has its source on the western slopes of Prospect Mountain in the Black Bluff Range , about 47 km south of Burnie . From there it first flows west to the foot of the mountain range. There it turns its course to the north-northeast and then to the east. At Loongana the River Leven turns north-northwest and flows through the Leven Canyon . At the end of this it flows again to the north-northeast and flows into the Bass Strait in Ulverstone .
