Diana Cignoni

Diana Cignoni (* in Germany before 1989 ) is a German -American actress and award-winning filmmaker .

Life

Cignoni grew up in Germany, became a model (The price is hot 1989–1990) and then went to New York City , where she attended the Actors Studio and the HB Studio. As an actress, she played Andrea Gartner in 1992 in the episode Die Reise nach München in the crime series Derrick . A year later she was seen as Dabo Girl in two episodes of the science fiction series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine . She appeared in several other film productions and in one episode each of the series Pretender (2000) and Diagnosis: Mord (2001). In 2019 she played Clare in Abbi Lake O'Neill's film Surviving in LA

As a filmmaker, she started her own company, Ground Hero Film. She created some works, mostly short films, which received several awards at various film festivals around the world. Among other things, she received the Audience Choice Award for her film One Weekend 2014 at the Santa Monica Independent Film Festival . The short film Palm Trees was honored there a year later as “Best Narrative Short”. At the same festival, her documentary Perfect 2016 received the Audience Choice Award and an award for best documentary. In 2017 she received the Jury Award for her short film Lulu at the TeaDance Gay and Lesbian Film Festival . Several other awards followed.

Cignoni also won several awards as a member of the Odyssey Theater Los Angeles and is a member of Film Fatales and the Gaba Film Initiative. She is also featured in Cady McClain's award-winning documentary series Seeing Is Believing: Women Direct , which features women directing.
