Diane Konihowski

Diane Helen Konihowski , b. Diane Helen Jones , (born March 7, 1951 in Vancouver ) is a former Canadian pentathlete , long jumper , hurdler and shot putter .

In 1970 she was tenth in the pentathlon at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh . She also came in tenth place in the pentathlon at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich.

At the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch in 1974 she was sixth in the pentathlon, eighth in the shot put and was eliminated in the long jump in qualification.

In 1975 she won the Pan American Games in Mexico City in the pentathlon and was sixth in the long jump.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, she was sixth in the pentathlon and eleventh in the long jump.

In 1978 she won the Commonwealth Games pentathlon in Edmonton . About 100m hurdles she finished seventh in the long jump Tenth. The following year she defended her pentathlon title at the Pan American Games in San Juan and was fourth in the long jump.

The boycott of Canada prevented participation in the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. At the alternatively held Liberty Bell Classic , she won the pentathlon.

Eight times she was Canadian champion in pentathlon (1969, 1973-1978, 1981), four times in the shot put (1971, 1973, 1977, 1980) and three times in the long jump (1976-1988).

She has been married to former track and field athlete and Canadian football player John Konihowski since 1977.
