Diaphthoresis
Diaphthoresis (Greek: diaphtheira "destruction") refers to a retrograde metamorphosis (retromorphosis) according to Friedrich Becke , whereby an already metamorphosed rock is shifted to a higher depth when mountain-forming processes start again and is returned to a lower degree of metamorphosis by changing pressure and temperature conditions . Diaphthoritic amphibolite in green schist is a typical rock formed by diaphthoresis (diaphthorite).
