Diario 16 was a Spanish daily newspaper. It was published from October 18, 1976 to November 7, 2001.

When Diario 16 was launched under the leadership of Ricardo Utrilla, Juan Tomás de Salas and Romualdo de Toledo, Spanish democracy was still developing. The newspaper reported critically on the coups at Operación Galaxia and 23-F . The October 30, 1982 issue, showing a photo of the triumphant election winner Felipe González , peaked at 700,000 copies. In April 1985 Diario 16 received a feature section .

In 1988 the newspaper found the hideout of the Grupos Antiterroristas de Liberación and investigated the group's links with the government. There was a dispute between the editor-in-chief Pedro J. Ramírez and the editor Juan Tomás de Salas over this reporting, which ultimately led to the dismissal of the editor-in-chief. Under the direction of Ramírez ' El Mundo appeared from October 23, 1989 , to which other Diario 16 employees also switched.

In 1993, Diario uncovered 16 inconsistencies regarding the sudden increase in assets of Guardia Civil chief Luis Roldán, who was later convicted of embezzlement .

After the owner company La Voz de Galicia could not find a buyer for the loss-making newspaper, it was discontinued in 2001.
