Dibasic ester
Dibasic esters or DBEs are the dimethyl esters of the dicarboxylic acids ( glutaric acid , succinic acid and adipic acid ). The dibasic esters are often offered as a mixture defined by the synthesis. It is composed of 55-67% dimethyl glutarate (DBE-5), 15-25% dimethyl succinate and 10-25% dimethyl adipate (DBE-6).
The solvent does not need to be labeled as a hazardous substance . The DBE mixture is a clear, colorless liquid and has a mild, pleasant odor.
use
Dibasic esters are used as solvents in paint strippers , in paints and in detergents .
