Dichagyris flavina ( Syn .: Yigoga flavina ) is a butterfly ( moth ) from the family of the owl butterflies (Noctuidae).

The wingspan of the moth is 35 to 44 millimeters. The coloring of the front wing in Turkey occurring nominate dichagyris flavina flavina varies in different, usually bright yellow. The south-eastern European subspecies Dichagyris flavina pretiosa is characterized by a reddish-brown fringing area with equally colored fringes. Kidney, ring and cone blemishes are usually indistinct or missing, as is the outer transverse line. The undersigned hind wings have a similar yellow color to the forewings.
Similar species
The species Dichagyris serraticornis and Dichagyris lutescens also have a yellow basic color . Both differ from flavina in that they have a darker tint and clearly highlighted flaws.
Geographical distribution and habitat
The species occurs in Bulgaria , Romania , Macedonia , Greece , Turkey , southern Russia , Armenia , Syria , Lebanon , Israel , Jordan as well as Iran and Iraq . In the mountains it rises to around 2000 meters. Preferred habitats are open, steppe-like areas and areas with sparse vegetation.
Way of life
The nocturnal moths fly in one generation from June to July. They can be attracted by artificial light sources as well as by the bait . Details of the first caterpillar stages are largely unknown.
