features

Dichrorampha plumbana has a wingspan of 12-14 mm. The front wings have a characteristic pattern made up of yellow, cobalt blue, gray and black.

Dichrorampha plumbana is native to the western Palearctic . The species is widespread in Europe.

Way of life

The main host plants of Dichrorampha plumbana are the common yarrow ( Achillea millefolium ) and the meadow marguerite ( Leucanthemum vulgare ). The butterflies can usually be found on their host plants. The flight time lasts from May to mid-August. The butterflies are particularly observed in May and June. The butterflies are mainly nocturnal, but also fly during the day on mild, cloudy days. The caterpillars hatch in August and develop in the roots of their forage plants before pupating in spring .
