The " Dicke-Stein-Turm" is a lookout tower on the district of the Palatinate country town Lambrecht (Palatinate) .
location
The 7.3 m high tower is located southwest of Lambrecht and is located on the flank of the Schauerberg in the Gewann Hoher Kopf on the eponymous rock formation Dicker Stein , which is a natural monument . The settlement area of Lambrecht extends a few hundred meters further north.
history
A pavilion was built on the said rock as early as 1896, but it fell into disrepair over the decades. The thick stone tower was built from wood in 1933 and offers two viewing platforms. In the following period, this also became increasingly ailing, so that it was blocked in 1995. In 1996 and 1997, however, it was renovated. In 2015/16 the tower was temporarily closed again because some wooden parts were weathered. As of August 2016, however, the tower is again open to the public.

Next to the entrance, a three-part wooden staircase with a total of 26 steps leads to the upper observation platform at 6.2 m tower height, from which there is a very good view of Lambrecht and the Haardt elevations further to the east.
