Dikwella is a small fishing village in the south of the island of Sri Lanka , between Matara and Tangalle . It offers one of the most beautiful beaches in the country on the Indian Ocean . A new infrastructure is being built here after the 2004 tsunami . Hotels and small guest houses offer accommodation for individual travelers. The tallest Buddha statue in Sri Lanka is in Dikwella . This is located in the Wewurukannala Vihara Temple. About 3 km from the village there is another attraction: the "Blow Hole". A crevice in the mountain blows water fountains meters high into the air. This natural spectacle is particularly evident during the rainy season.
