The 2 - Gottschalk & Jauch gegen alle (spelling: ... against ALL ) was a German game show on the TV channel RTL , in which the moderators Thomas Gottschalk and Günther Jauch initially challenged the entire nation to a competition. The program was hosted by Barbara Schöneberger . The show was mostly broadcast live. Initially, viewers at home were also involved in the program via telephone voting and were able to influence the result. From 2014 only the audience in the studio played against the challengers. From November 2016, Frank Buschmann acted as commentator. The show was produced in Hürth near Cologne .

The format started on September 9, 2013 and received a lot of media attention shortly after the announcement.

The format is the successor because they don't know what is going to happen .

Gameplay

The knowledge of Gottschalk and Jauch and the 500 spectators was tested in various categories. This could be done through games in the form of a quiz or action game. In the quiz rounds, all viewers gave their decisions using voting machines. For the action games, candidates were initially selected using a random generator, who received 2,000 euros at the beginning of the game. In the final game, either the candidate who had given the most correct answers the fastest in the program or “Die 2” won 100,000 euros. In the latter case, the two donated the money to a good cause.

The final game initially consisted of three rounds. One question was asked in each of the first two rounds. In the first eleven programs, this was a question of knowledge and an estimation. The candidate once had the opportunity to consult the audience. The third round was played with a balloon. If “Die 2” or the candidate answered the question correctly, the respective person got ten seconds of air in the balloon. But if this was wrong, the opponent got the air. The points earned so far were used as jokers. For each point scored, there was an additional second of air. The winner was the one who burst the balloon while the LED wall was glowing in the background.

New rules were introduced in 2016. The candidates for the action games were no longer selected at random, but based on their profile for the respective game. They also only received 2,000 euros if they won the game or it ended in a draw. In the final game, the first two rounds were dropped. So only "The Big Bang" was played. At the beginning of the final, the candidate had to decide whether he would like to play it together with the runner-up, in which case both shared the prize. If “Die 2” won, the money went to a jackpot, which increased the winnings in the next program by 100,000 euros.

aFor technical reasons, the final game was not ended properly. The candidate was in the lead until the cancellation and the profit was divided between the candidate and Gottschalk / Jauch, the former received 60,000 euros, the latter 40,000 euros.
bThe candidate Philipp was in front during all questions of the final game. For reasons of fairness, “Die 2” decided to share the winnings they were entitled to after answering the last question with the candidate. “Die 2” and the candidate each received 50,000 euros.
cSince the candidate Rolf Mayr would have donated part of his winnings to the Bonn city soldiers who are committed to helping youth and senior citizens if they had won, “Die 2” decided on the winnings they were entitled to after answering the last question to share with the candidate. “Die 2” and the candidate each received 50,000 euros, with which Mayr was able to support his project.
d"Die 2" emerged as the winner from the show, as Günther Jauch answered the last question correctly. The balloon burst the second Barbara Schöneberger confirmed Jauch's answer. Since this decision was extremely tight, the photos were viewed again by the editorial team after the broadcast. This showed that, for technical reasons, the LED wall only started to glow 16 hundredths of a second after the balloon had burst. As a result, the candidate Friedbert Nitsche was awarded the prize in the next broadcast, so that the jackpot was again at 100,000 euros.
