The Adventures of Robin Hood (Original title: The Adventures of Robin Hood ) is an American - British adventure series with Richard Greene in the role as Robin Hood and Alan Wheatley as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

The episodes show the adventures of Robin Hood , who fights against his adversary, the Sheriff of Nottingham. Many episodes are based on legends about Robin Hood or on elements of medieval life, such as “ City air makes you free ”, tournaments, robberies and kidnappings.
Production and publication
The series consists of 143 half-hour episodes in black and white. The series was produced by Sapphire Films in a total of four seasons. The episodes were filmed at Alnwick Castle and Bodiam Castle as well as at Nettlefold Studios in Walton-on-Thames .
The series was broadcast from September 26, 1955 by CBS in the USA, from February 17, 1956, the broadcast by ITV in Great Britain followed. The German language first broadcast took place on December 1, 1963 in the GDR. From March 28, 1971, the broadcast by ARD in the Federal Republic of Germany, which was repeated several times.
