The work was an Austrian magazine , first published in 1885 and the last time in 1886. The work appeared twice a month and had the sub-title Social Democratic Organ of the Austrian Workers . The places of publication were initially Marburg and, from December 8, 1885, Graz .

The work was founded by the tailor Johann Rismann, who had previously published the Schneider trade newspaper . The foundation was an attempt to found a new radical magazine outside of Vienna after the assembly and the press ban on the so-called radicals in Vienna . According to Rudolf Rocker , the paper was very well received by the workers and was smuggled in bales of canvas to Vienna, where literary clubs ensured its secret distribution. As early as 1886 the magazine had to be discontinued due to a new law against social democracy. Another attempt to publish a radical newspaper failed due to resistance from the authorities.
