Maya the Bee is a comic series from Bastei Verlag , which was published after the successful cartoon series Maya the Bee from the 1970s.

From August 1976 to July 1981, 163 issues appeared, shortly afterwards also second editions and anthologies with at least three individual issues of the same. Storyboards and drawings were mainly produced in the Munich Atelier Roche, as well as on behalf of the Spanish Studio Ortega .

A 38-volume series was published between 1985 and '87, and another 18 volumes between 1991 and '92. In addition, since 1976 Bastei has also edited a series of 14 paperback books and 8 large volumes with completely new comic stories.

In addition to the drawing work and most of the stories, André Roche brought in a number of new characters, such as Schimmy the silverfish , a pair of rose beetles, a bumblebee princess, predatory flies , the mushroom raven- winged grandma cake tooth , so-called brown silk beetles, a bird mite , a four-point gloss beetle , sawhorse , grave digger , knocking beetle , ant lions , bark beetles and others .
