The Ehrlichen Finder are a Mainz indie pop rock band that sings German lyrics to music halfway between pop and punk.
history
Felix Schmekel, who comes from Kaiserslautern and moved from Nuremberg to Mainz in 2011 as part of his studies, was looking for a drummer for a new band to be formed through a newspaper advertisement. Born in Austria, Stefan Kramer, who had come to Mainz from Munich in the same year, where he had accepted a position as full professor at the Institute for Computer Science at Johannes Gutenberg University, answered the complaint. Although he was unable to play drums, he already had experience as a guitarist and singer-songwriter and wanted to bring his musical talents to a live band. The two set up the guitar duo “Die Ehrlichen Finder”, which performed in Mainz, Wiesbaden and Austria.
In June 2017, the duo expanded to include drummer Martin Ignatz. Felix Schmekel switched from guitar to bass in order to get closer to the classic line-up concept of a rock band. The album Neufinderland was released in October 2017, followed by Kaltes Weltall in December 2018 .
Felix Schmekel left the formation in summer 2019; Christian Krämer took over his role, who had already played with Martin Ignatz in the Offenbach band Svevo (founded in 1986).
