The Island of Thirty Coffins is a novel by Maurice Leblanc from 1919. It tells the eerie story of the young Véronique d'Hergemont, who in 1917 uncovered a terrible secret while searching for her own past . Horrible prophecies come true on an island in Brittany : Véronique has to watch her fourteen-year-old son, believed dead, murder his grandfather, three old women are crucified and fleeing islanders shot. In 1979 it was filmed as "L'île aux trente cercueils" (German title of the six-hour TV film: The island of thirty deaths ) by Marcel Cravenne with Claude Jade as Véronique d'Hergemont.
