The youth of Blueberry (original title: La Jeunesse de Blueberry ) is a Franco-Belgian comic series that began in 1985 .

Blueberry fought on the side of Union forces against the south during the Civil War from 1861 to 1865. He is used several times for dangerous missions that are more difficult to complete than expected.
background
Between 1968 and 1970 nine short stories appeared about Lieutenant Blueberry's youth . From this, Jean-Michel Charlier developed an independent series with album-length stories. Colin Wilson was chosen as a draftsman . Jean-Michel Charlier died while working on the third volume. François Corteggiani completed the volume and continued the series. Colin Wilson ended the collaboration in 1994 after six albums and was replaced in 1998 by Michel Blanc-Dumont .
Publications
The first two stories were preprinted in France Soir. After two albums with Dargaud , Novedi and Alpen Publishers took over the album production, which Dargaud took over again in 1994. Carlsen released the first four albums. Ehapa later integrated the series in their regular album series around Lieutenant Blueberry and summarized the albums in the Blueberry Chronicles.
