Colin Wilson (born October 31, 1949 in Christchurch ) is a New Zealand comic artist .

Life

Wilson worked as a draftsman and photographer in New Zealand before moving to London in 1980, where he worked on the series Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper for comic magazine 2000 AD . As a draftsman and copywriter for the French publisher Glénat , he produced the 3-volume series Dans l´ombre du soleil (German: In the shadow of the sun ). Here he was based on the drawing style of Jean Giraud and so Jean-Michel Charlier became aware of him when he was a draftsman for the youth adventures of Lieutenant Blueberrysought. Six albums were created in this way. However, Charlier died in 1989 while working on the third volume, which he wrote up to page 28. François Corteggiani completed the album and continued the series with other albums (and after Wilson with Michel Blanc-Dumont as a draftsman).

It is noteworthy that Wilson, although at the latest with Blueberry arrived in the European author's comic, continues to appear as a "commissioned artist" for various series and different publishers. In 2000 he drew a special edition of the traditional Italian western series Tex (text: Claudio Nizzi , German at Panini Comics ). In 2002, Point Blank was a 5-part series for the American market, together with copywriter Ed Brubaker, and since 2007 Wilson has also been drawing for the Star Wars comic series, including the series Star Wars: Invasion . For the French publisher Delcourt he also designed individual volumes of the Jour J series (Eng .: Tag X , Panini Comics).

After the three-part thriller lead in the skull (2004-2006, text: Matz), which was filmed with Sylvester Stallone under the title Bullet to the Head in 2013, his current series Wonderball (since 2014, so far 5 volumes, German with Alles Gute ! ) another thriller.
